When we think of cosmetic surgery, we first think of breast implant surgery, facelift or nose surgery. In a rush to get bigger breasts, sharper nose, brighter eyes and rounder lips, we sometimes ignore the chin. But the chin plays an important part in determining the profile. And it’s because of this that Britishers have now decided to part with thousands of pounds in order to augment their chins.
Plastic surgeons are reporting a sharp increase in the number of patients signing up for chin surgery, the latest must-have procedure. There is an increase of up to a 35 percent in the number of patients, both men and women, booking in for surgical chin enhancement. The rise is even higher, nearing 50 percent, in Europe.
Chin surgery is carried out by inserting a silicon implant through an incision made inside the mouth. The effect, although only pushing the chin forward by a few millimeters is said to dramatically improve the balance and contours of the face.
Some surgeons say that people who are now having chin surgery, were initially considering rhinoplasty. People who come to have their noses operated on realize that the problem often lies with a recessive chin which makes their nose look proportionately larger.
