Women like to dress up their feet in pretty, open-toed sandals – peek-a-boo pumps, flip-flops and wedge sandals. But those with long toes or bumpy bunions can’t slip their feet into Cinderella’s glass slippers for the fear of looking absurd. A facelift for the feet seems like a golden opportunity to make their feet look pretty.

According to doctors, an increasing number of foot procedures with names like toe shortening, toe tuck and toe slim are coming into vogue. Cosmetic foot surgeons say that the surgeries make up a bulk of their practice.

Some doctors feel that now people think that they can get any part of their bodies fixed – if someone is unhappy with small breasts, breast augmentation surgery comes to their rescue; wrinkles are fixed with facelifts and injectable fillers; small buttocks are pumped up with implants to make them look curvy. There’s a solution to almost every part of the body.

Nowadays people are more informed about cosmetic procedures and so, the demand for surgical procedures is more. Generally people who have cosmetic surgery for their feet have always been embarrassed by their feet.

Research shows that 75 percent of Americans will experience foot health problems in their lifetime. For these reasons, some orthopedic surgeons advice against foot surgery unless a person is in constant pain. According to them altering the biomechanics of the foot can actually create more problems.
