Liposuction is a plastic surgery procedure which reshapes the body by getting rid of unwanted fat by suction from specific fat pockets. Liposuction is used to remove fat from the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms and even from the face.
Sometimes when diet and exercise are not helpful in cutting down the fat, then people resort to liposuction. The facial liposuction in most cases is able to make a dramatic change in the way a person looks by removing the excess fat from under the cheeks, chin and neck.
Some people have a fat deposit under their chin, which makes them look older. The cheeks can also become rounder with weight gain and the neck starts looking thicker. This is where facial liposuction comes in. Facial and neck liposuction is an effective liposuction procedure for removing localized fatty deposits in the undersurface of the neck area and the neck region. It is also effective in region in front of the ears. But in older patients facial liposuction surgery needs to be combined with a facelift, brow-lift, eyelid or nose surgery for optimal results. Sometimes the liposuction procedure can also be performed along with chin or cheek implants.
Liposuction can also be considered a good option by a facial plastic surgeon to enhance facial balance, by reducing fatty deposits in the chin, cheeks, or neck. A good candidate for the liposuction is a person who is of normal-weight and has firm, elastic skin with pockets of excess fat in certain areas of his or her body.
