Several obese people opt to have gastric bypass surgery in order to lose excess weight quickly.
New research has found that this surgery, which is becoming more and more popular as obesity increases throughout the United States, is more than a cosmetic procedure it has actually helped save several lives.
Whether you agree or disagree with the gastric bypass surgery procedure, recent research published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that severely obese patients who underwent the surgery reduced their risk of health complications such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
According to this study, patients who have had the surgery have a 30-40 percent less chance of dying seven to ten years later than those who didn’t have the operation.
