For most overweight and obese people, an injection to melt away the rolls of fat is the ideal way to get toned and trim. Fat reduction injections cut down upon the fatty deposits in particular areas around the body.

Some of these are: Lipostabil®, also marketed as Flabjab™, Lipomelt, Lipodissolve and Fat-Away.  These are intravenous preparations of phosphatidycholine, used for the prevention and treatment of blood vessel blockages caused by fat particles (fat embolism).

These are known as lipid lowering agents – a medication for reducing fat in the blood. These are licensed medicines in some European states but not in the UK, as the safety of this product has not been established for cosmetic use. So, if a practitioner plans to use these products on you, then it’s advisable to refuse treatment and contact the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

Though fat reduction injections make the treated area look thinner, it can lead to infection, bleeding and can cause nerve damage as well as skin irregularity, if too much of fat has been removed. Some people experience swelling, aching, itching and bruising, which can last up to three days.

It’s important to know that fat reduction injections don’t stop you from gaining weight in the future. So, you could choose alternatives like proper diet and exercise to get into shape.
