Chemical peels, injections of Botox or potions and creams – there is a long list of ‘fix-it’ treatments and techniques that you can choose from to tackle lines and wrinkles. But one of the best options is to protect your skin and keep it healthy. Here are a few tips to keep your skin fresh and glowing.
You may want to use a lotion or cream that contains alpha-hydroxy acids that come from milk, fruit and sugar cane. AHAs clear away dead cells on the surface of the skin and encourage collagen growth, which fills in wrinkles. AHAs also counteract free radicals – rogue oxygen molecules in your body that can damage your skin.
Before you use creams with AHA, it’s a good idea to do a patch test by rubbing a dab of cream on a small patch of your skin to see if causes any rashes or red patches or not. If it doesn’t, then the moisturizer is safe for you to use.
Apart from creams and lotions, you can try natural home treatments to rejuvenate your skin. Try soaking a clean piece of cloth or cotton in milk and apply it to your skin. Milk contains AHA and is supposed to be good for the skin.
Aloe vera, which contains malic acid, is another home tonic that can do wonders for your skin. To apply fresh aloe vera gel, cut off a leaf at the base, slit it open and scrape out the gel with a spoon, taking care not to rupture the green rind.
A pack made of papaya can also lessen the appearance of wrinkles because they contain enzymes that can work on the top layer of your skin. Two tablespoons of papaya pulp mixed with a tablespoon of dry oatmeal will help exfoliate your skin.
An avocado home facial can supply moisture as well as vitamin E and it doesn’t take too much of time. Just puree the pulp, apply it on your face and leave it on for 20 minutes, before washing it off. Apart from these home treatments, you can keep your skin soft and protect it from harmful UV rays by applying moisturizer and a good sunscreen.
Including fish in your diet is a good idea because they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which can nourish your skin.
