Who wouldn’t want to look trim and toned-up? Nobody likes carrying excess baggage of weight or rolls of fat that refuse to melt away. Here are some tips that may help you shed that extra fat.
It’s important to remember that your weight reflects your total calorie consumption, how much you exercise, your metabolic rate and the composition of the food that you eat. A few changes in your diet may help you cut down on extra calories. It’s a good idea to reduce carbs, particularly those with a high glycemic load, such as sugary foods, pasta and breads. Eating a low-carbohydrate, low-GL diet will help you control your appetite and decrease cravings.
Cutting down on fat in your diet will help you loose weight because food with a high fat content has more calories than carbohydrates and protein. Include more vegetables in your meals – ideally, low-starch vegetables that have a low glycemic index, are rich in nutrients, high in fiber and are filling.
It’s a good idea to consume more fiber. If you’re planning to switch foods radically, then think again because eating in a significantly different way will make the process of loosing weight a painful and even futile exercise. All you need to do is follow proper eating habits to loose and maintain your weight. Make health, not weight loss your goal. If you follow a healthy lifestyle, you will succeed in both improving your health and loosing weight.
It’s also advisable not to get discouraged because of weight plateaus – an increase in muscle mass and blood-vessel expansion due to exercise may temporarily halt weight loss. If you are building muscles, you can loose body fat and inches without dropping pounds, since muscle weighs more than fat.
Another thing to remember is that you shouldn’t rush to reduce your weight because then, in the long run you may end u gaining all the weight that you lost. Start exercising because physical activity burns up calories and increases your metabolic level. The rate at which you burn calories determines your metabolic rate.
