Labial Reduction Surgery

Many women are not happy with parts of their genitalia - some are embarrassed; some feel uncomfortable; and, some are sexually dissatisfied. Now with labial reduction surgery, women who have exceptionally long or unequal lengths of the labia minora (inner lips of the vagina) can have them aesthetically reshaped.

Labial reduction surgery is carried out under general anesthetic or local anesthetic with sedation and takes around 1-2 hours. Your surgeon will trim the inner fold, to prevent them from protruding, by either reducing the edges of the labia, or by snipping out a ‘V’ shaped wedge of tissue. The remaining edges are carefully sewn back together.

After labial reduction surgery, you may experience mild discomfort and swelling, which will disappear after a couple of weeks. You’ll need to wear a panty liner after the surgery. It’s a good idea to avoid vigorous exercise for two weeks and vaginal intercourse for four weeks. A daily bath or gentle shower ensures quick healing. You’ll be able to return to work after 2-3 weeks.
