Men Take Loans for Cosmetic Surgery
December 21, 2006 - Chandana Banerjee

Cosmetic surgery is not taboo for men anymore. Gone are the days when guys said, “Hey I’m a man. This ain’t for me!” With cosmetic surgery being the new trend on the block, many men are now opting for nips and tucks. Since, cosmetic surgery is not cheap, an increasing number of men are taking out loans to fund the surgery.
Sainsbury’s Bank data shows one in five of all loans for cosmetic surgery is now taken out by a man. Overall, around £1.8 million is spent on plastic surgery every day in Britain. Loans are the solution to ‘look good’ surgery. Estimates from Mintel predict a 240 per cent increase in the amount of money spent on cosmetic surgery between 2001 and 1006.
The popular procedures include botox to remove wrinkles, face-lifts, nose jobs, tummy tucks, vein zapping, and eye and ear operations. But studies show, that choosing to pay for cosmetic surgery by a loan could prove to be more draining on bank balances. Since these procedures are expensive, consumers should shop around for competitive rates.
