Caramel Corbett is a 28-year-old illustrator with a magazine, and is trying to make up her mind about breast enlargement surgery. Though she is a good looking girl, she wants to look better and wants that extra dollop of oomph that rounder, plumper breasts will bring on. She did some research and found out the following information.
There are three types of breast implants used for breast enlargement:
Silicon gel filled implants
Saline filled implants
Double lumen implants - silicon gel filled core with saline periphery
Since breast implants are not permanent devices, these implants will have to be removed and replaced with new ones at some point of time. Breast implants come with the risk of leak and rupture and may require additional surgery to replace the previous one, if this happens. The other risks include pain, seroma (fluid retention), infection and capsular contracture.
Another thing to consider before you make up your mind is pregnancy. Pregnancy might force you to opt for a breast implant revision. Breast implants often cause the nipples to become more or less sensitive than normal. While lactating, the patient may have increased breast enlargement and experience pain, fever. However, there is no evidence that silicon from silicon gel implants can leak into breast milk and endanger the baby.
The best candidates for breast augmentation surgery are women (adults) who are healthy, and have a positive self-image. Women who are thinking of having breast enlargement surgery should also be well informed about the outcomes and risks of this surgery; and, should have realistic expectations.
A person contemplating implants should try to find as much information possible before making a final decision. It is also important to be clear that breast enlargement surgery will make you look more attractive, but will not make you look perfect.
