Mommy Makeovers on the rise

Sugerywatch Staff - 28 Nov 2007

According to a 2004 survey, roughly a third of individuals contemplating plastic surgery had household incomes below $30,000. What types of plastic surgery are people today seeking?

Moms are now getting what′s known as a mommy makeover that includes various plastic surgery procedures - a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast implants to get back to their pre-pregnancy shape or even better. Whereas some moms are looking for a quick-fix, others want surgery to repair those areas that lifestyle changes cannot.

Psychotherapists feel that having cosmetic procedures done so quickly can create some postpartum problems.

Another disheartening issue is that insurance rarely covers plastic surgery. That mommy makeover, for instance, can run mom anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 (or more) depending on the procedures. So, naturally, many people take out loans to finance their procedures.

With offers for credit abundant, popular cosmetic surgery shows receiving high ratings, and a culture demanding youth and beauty here to stay, plastic surgery will undoubtedly increase.
